National Public Radio wished to evolve from a template-driven site fed by a proprietary Content Management System (CMS) to a design system that would accommodate the original CMS, but also be flexible enough to allow for a variety of multimedia content.
We defined the site audience, information architecture structure and key site paths, and tested for optimum usability. Development of user personas began at project Kickoff, with a round of stakeholder interviews at NPR. Goals, behaviors, and needs were identified to create 5 unique user personas that ultimately guided our user experience and design teams during the Site Architecture and Usability Testing phases. We conducted two phases of usability testing. In both cases, Schematic developed the Test Plan and testing prototypes, moderated user testing, developed a user testing report, and implemented usability-related modifications to the site architecture and design prior to build.
